Trip notes

Is it right for your kids?

Dolomiti Paganella Bike is a genuinely family-oriented destination: alongside its flow and freeride trails it runs "The Cave" trail centre with a Playground skills area and an 80 m pump track open to children from age 3, plus the official Paganella Bike Academy for lessons. Short, mostly flat family loops (30 minutes to 2 hours) mean younger kids can build confidence off the main descents before riding the park proper. It is one of the better-equipped Alpine parks for families starting out, though the easiest lift-served descents are graded beginner/intermediate rather than a true green flow line from the top.

Trails to know

Big Hero

Big Hero

· 1.8 km

Operator-graded beginner/intermediate flow trail from Tovre (130 m drop) β€” described as an entry-level flow line, good for first laps and rolling in.

Goonies

Goonies

· 1 km

Short Valbiole flow run (90 m drop), operator-graded intermediate; confidence-building for riders who have the basics.

Willy Wonka

Willy Wonka

· 4.2 km

Long flow descent from Dosson (420 m), operator-graded intermediate, with berms, tables and rollers for families ready to link a full top-to-bottom run.

The Cave Playground skills area

The Cave Playground skills area

· 80 m pump track

Playground skills area with an 80 m pump track for children aged 3–10 to learn basics before the trails; a longer 150 m+ pump track serves more advanced riders.

Good to know for parents

The Cave trail centre (Andalo, via Priori 14, in the Andalo Life park) has a 'Playground' skills area with an 80 m pump track for ages 3–10 and a longer 150 m+ pump track for more advanced riders, plus bike rental, repair and shop (Danger Zone) β€” a place to start before lifts.
Paganella Bike Academy is the official FCI MTB school on site, offering skills courses and guided rides for all abilities including kids and beginners; book ahead in summer.
Kids' bikes are rentable (e.g. Bear Bike Center), and family trails are described as suitable for children towed on a tag-along or carried in a child seat, so you don't need to travel with all your gear.
Family loops are deliberately short (30 min–2 hours) and mostly flat; the easiest lift-served park descents are operator-graded beginner/intermediate (e.g. Big Hero), not green, so expect mellow flow rather than a true green line from the top β€” confirm the easiest line for your child's level with a guide.
Helmet is compulsory and kneepads are recommended in the skills area and pump track. The Cave ran daily 9:00–12:30 / 14:00–18:00 in summer (14 June–14 Sept 2025); check current dates before you go.
