Is it right for your kids?

Saalbach Hinterglemm is one of the easier big bike regions to bring kids to: there's a free Learn to Ride Park with a conveyor belt right in the village, plus two genuinely beginner-friendly blue flow trails (Monti-Line and Blue Line) you can lap by gondola. If your child can already ride a bike confidently and you can sort the right protection, this is a strong place for a first gravity holiday — just note the operator doesn't publish a hard minimum age, so judgement is on you.

•Start at the free Learn to Ride Park (Turmwiese, next to the Kohlmais lift) — it has a conveyor belt so kids can lap mini trails without pedalling back up, open daily 9:00–16:15.
•The Monti-Line and Blue Line are the two genuinely easy blues; both have rollable features, so first-timers can roll or walk anything that looks big.
•Wear protection: the operator stresses a full-face helmet and protectors even on the beginner trails. Local shops (e.g. Gumpold) stock POC/Fox protective gear and kids' bikes — confirm safety-set rental directly before you arrive.
•The JOKER CARD includes free bike transport on a cable car twice a day plus a 20% discount on bike tickets bought on site, which helps keep family lift costs down.
•It's a large region across 7 mountains with up to 9 lifts — pick one mountain (Kohlmais or Reiterkogel) per day with kids rather than chasing trails across the whole area.
