Trip notes

Is it right for your kids?

Bad Kleinkirchheim's Flow Country Trail is a single 15 km descent of about 910 vertical metres that's deliberately rollable for confident beginners, with a free practice course and pump track at the base to warm up on. It can work as a family outing — kids' rental bikes, a gondola up, and a bike school at the valley station — but the sheer length plus the operator's rule that under-12s must be accompanied (and under-14s' skills checked first) mean it suits older or already-confident kids rather than total beginners.

Trails to know

Flow Country Trail

Bikeparcours (practice course)

· approx. 120 m

Free 1000 m² gravelled course (~1 m wide) with low obstacles (max 40 cm) of mobile wooden and fixed elements — suitable for young children on a bike or scooter; designed to prepare riders for the main trail.

Pump Track

Pump Track

· Not stated

Free ~1 m wide track with rollers, banked turns and jumps, ridden without pedalling and rideable in both directions; suitable for children, beginners and advanced riders.

Good to know for parents

Official rules: children under 12 may only ride the trail accompanied by an authorised supervising adult; for under-14s parents must first check riding ability in the practice course, and it is strongly recommended parents inspect the trail themselves before letting a child ride.
A helmet is mandatory; a full-face helmet is recommended and knee/elbow protectors, gloves and a back protector are recommended. INTERSPORT Rent offers children's helmets and safety equipment for hire (kids'-specific full-face/protector hire not confirmed online).
Kids' mountain bikes and kids' e-MTBs are rentable at INTERSPORT Rent at the Kaiserburgbahn valley station; the on-site practice course and pump track are free to use during operating hours.
The trail is 15 km long with 910 m of descent — long for small legs even though it rolls easily, so build up via the practice course first and plan rest stops.
Bike rental, bike schools and the practice course with pump track and wash area are located at the Kaiserburgbahn valley station.
